YOUR CUSTOM-FIT MEASURING GUIDE How to measure for your Shirae. Take clear, consistent measurements with a flexible tape, a mirror and someone to help. Follow the illustrated steps below, then enter your numbers in Design → Measurements.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN A few minutes of care make a difference. Every illustrated measurement has a matching input in the design studio. Neck circumference is shown for collars, neckline depth for collarless styles, and sleeve length for sleeved designs.
ENTER MY MEASUREMENTS ↗ Use centimetres. Use a flexible, non-stretch tape. Record the number as read; decimals are welcome.Wear your intended undergarments. Use your usual well-fitting bra and a thin fitted layer. Avoid bulky clothes.Stand naturally. Relax your shoulders and breathe normally. Keep your arms relaxed when reading body circumferences.Measure your body, without added room. The tape should touch without digging in. The maker adds garment ease when drafting.Use a waist ribbon and a helper. Mark the natural waist with a narrow ribbon. Ask someone to check shoulder width, armhole and front lengths.Check twice. Remove and reposition the tape, then repeat. If readings differ noticeably, check the landmarks and take another reading.Know your starting points.
High shoulder point · HPS Where the base of your neck meets your shoulder. It is closer to the neck than the outer shoulder point.
Outer shoulder point Where the shoulder turns into the upper arm. Use this for shoulder width and sleeve length.
Bust point · apex The fullest projecting point of each bust while wearing your intended bra. The two points locate your bust shaping.
Natural waist The crease you find when bending gently sideways. Mark it with a ribbon, then stand upright. The coloured line shows the tape route. A dashed section passes behind the body. Diagrams show placement, not a body shape or size you need to match.
Bust, waist and hips Shoulders, arms and collar Bust position and torso length Your neckline and finished lengths YOUR BODY MEASUREMENTS Bust, waist and hips Measure the full circumference around your body.
Front view: a tape loop around the torso at the fullest bust level. FRONT VIEW Measure a complete loop
01 / REQUIRED Full bust circumference Sets the room across the fullest part of your chest.
Wear the bra you expect to wear with your Shirae and a thin, close-fitting layer. Pass the tape around your back and the fullest part of your bust. Keep it level all the way around. Lower your arms, breathe normally and read the full circumference without compressing the bust. Check before recording: Do not use your bra size or a flat shirt width.

Front view: a tape loop above the bust and directly beneath the armpits. FRONT VIEW Measure a complete loop
02 / REQUIRED High bust circumference Helps distinguish your upper-chest frame from your full bust.
Place the tape just under the armpits and above the fullest part of the bust. Wrap it around the upper back; it may angle slightly at your sides to stay above the bust. Relax your arms before reading. Keep the tape close without pulling it into the body. Check before recording: This is a separate measurement above the bust, not the full-bust tape line.

Front view: a horizontal tape loop around the natural waist. FRONT VIEW Measure a complete loop
03 / REQUIRED Natural waist circumference Locates the fitted waist and side-buckle shaping.
Bend gently to one side to find the natural waist crease, then stand upright. Tie a narrow ribbon there as a level reference and measure around that line. Breathe normally. Keep the tape touching your body without sucking in or adding extra room. Check before recording: A trouser waistband or the belly button may not sit at your natural waist.

Front view: a tape loop around the fullest hip level below the natural waist. FRONT VIEW Measure a complete loop
04 / REQUIRED Full hip circumference Records the fullest lower-body circumference for the shirt’s lower fit.
Stand with your feet together and find the widest level around your hips and seat. Wrap the tape around that full circumference, checking in a mirror that it stays horizontal. Slide the tape a little up and down to confirm you have measured the fullest level. Check before recording: Use full hip/seat, not high hip or the shirt hem. If you entered either of those previously, remeasure this field.

YOUR BODY MEASUREMENTS Shoulders, arms and collar Use a helper for shoulder width and the armhole loop.
Back view: a line across the upper back between the two outer shoulder points. Shoulder point BACK VIEW Measure between the marked points
05 / REQUIRED Shoulder width (across back) Positions the shirt’s shoulder line.
Ask a helper to locate the outer shoulder points where each shoulder turns into the upper arm. With your shoulders relaxed, measure from one point to the other across the upper back. Keep the endpoints on those outer shoulder points; do not route the tape up around the neck. Check before recording: This is the full shoulder-to-shoulder width, not one neck-to-shoulder seam.

Front view: a tape loop around the fullest part of the upper arm. FRONT VIEW Measure a complete loop
06 / REQUIRED Upper arm circumference Provides a reference for comfortable upper-sleeve shaping.
Let your arm hang relaxed. Find the fullest part of the upper arm. Wrap the tape around that part of the arm, keeping it perpendicular to the arm. Record the complete loop with the tape resting lightly against the skin or thin clothing. Check before recording: Do not flex the muscle or add sleeve ease to this body measurement.

Side view: a vertical loop over the shoulder point and under the armpit; the dashed section passes behind. SIDE VIEW Measure a complete loop
07 / REQUIRED Armhole circumference Records the loop around the shoulder joint for armhole shaping.
Ask a helper to place the tape over the outer shoulder point and down around the underarm. Let the tape form a complete loop around the shoulder joint while your arm rests naturally. Keep the loop close and comfortable, then read where the tape ends meet. Check before recording: Record the full circumference. Do not enter vertical armhole depth or a flat garment measurement.

Front view: a small tape loop around the wrist at the wrist bone. FRONT VIEW Measure a complete loop
08 / REQUIRED Wrist circumference Gives the maker a wrist reference for sleeve-end and cuff fit.
Relax your hand and find the wrist-bone level. Wrap the tape completely around the wrist at that level. Read the circumference with the tape close, without tightening it or adding a cuff allowance. Check before recording: This is your wrist measurement, not the finished cuff width.

Front view: a tape loop around the base of the neck. FRONT VIEW Measure a complete loop
09 / Collared styles only Neck base circumference Provides the body measurement used to shape a collar.
Find the base of the neck where a shirt collar would sit. Wrap the tape around that base, following the neck comfortably without lifting it toward the jaw. Read the complete circumference. Keep your head upright and do not pull the tape tight. Check before recording: Only requested after you select a collar. Enter the body measurement without adding collar ease.

YOUR BODY MEASUREMENTS Bust position and torso length These points help place the bust seam and waist shaping.
Front view: a tape line from the high shoulder point beside the neck to the bust point on the same side. HPS Bust point FRONT VIEW Measure between the marked points
10 / REQUIRED Shoulder to bust point Helps position the curved bust shaping at the right height.
Find the high shoulder point: where the base of your neck meets your shoulder. Place the tape there and follow the front of your body to the fullest projecting point of the bust on the same side. Keep your usual bra on and measure without lifting or flattening the bust. Check before recording: Start beside the neck, not at the outer shoulder or centre-front throat.
Record in centimetres in Design → Measurements .
Front view: a horizontal line connecting the left and right bust points. Bust points FRONT VIEW Measure between the marked points
11 / REQUIRED Bust point to bust point Places the left and right bust shaping at the correct spacing.
With your usual bra on, identify the fullest projecting point of each bust. Measure the direct distance across the front from one bust point to the other. Keep the tape straight between these landmarks without pulling the bust inward. Check before recording: This is a front distance between two points, not a circumference around your body.
Record in centimetres in Design → Measurements .
Front view: a tape path from the neck-side shoulder point over the bust and down to the natural waist. HPS Waist FRONT VIEW Measure between the marked points
12 / REQUIRED Shoulder to natural waist Sets the front torso length and the position of waist shaping.
Keep a narrow ribbon tied at your natural waist. Start at the high shoulder point beside the neck, then run the tape over the bust point on that same side. Follow the body’s contour down to the waist ribbon. Ask a helper to read the tape while you stand upright. Check before recording: Measure down the front over the bust, not down the back or through the air.

YOUR DESIGN PREFERENCES Your neckline and finished lengths Choose where you want your garment to begin and end.
Front view with one arm slightly bent: a tape line from the outer shoulder, over the elbow, to the wrist; shorter sleeves stop earlier. Sleeve end FRONT VIEW Measure between the marked points
13 / Sleeved styles only Finished sleeve length Sets where the finished sleeve, including any cuff, should end.
Start at the outer shoulder point where the shoulder meets the arm. Measure along the outside of the arm to your chosen sleeve end; keep the elbow slightly bent for a long sleeve. For a wrist-length sleeve, pass the tape over the elbow to the wrist bone. For shorter sleeves, stop at the desired end. Check before recording: Do not start at the neck or the underarm. The diagram shows a long sleeve; choose your own finishing point.

Front view: a tape path from the high shoulder point over the bust and down to the desired shirt hem. HPS Hem FRONT VIEW Measure between the marked points
14 / REQUIRED Finished shirt length Sets the finished front length of your untucked Shirae.
Start at the high shoulder point beside the neck. Run the tape down the front over the bust, following your body to where you want the shirt hem. Use a mirror or helper to check the finishing point, then record the total shoulder-to-hem distance. Check before recording: Include the full front length. Do not measure from the waist, centre-front throat or a tucked-in shirt.

Front view: a diagonal tape line from the high shoulder point to the desired lowest front neckline point. HPS Neckline end FRONT VIEW Measure between the marked points
15 / Collarless styles only Neckline depth from shoulder Records where you would like the front neckline to finish.
Identify the high shoulder point beside your neck. Run the tape diagonally down the front to the lowest point you want your neckline to reach. Check that point in a mirror with your intended bra or layer. Record the tape distance from the shoulder point. Check before recording: For Shirae this starts at the high shoulder point, not the hollow of the throat. It is a preferred opening depth.
Record in centimetres in Design → Measurements .
Before you save your measurements. Check that every number is in centimetres and each circumference is a complete loop. Recheck shoulder-to-bust and shoulder-to-waist lengths using the same high shoulder point. Confirm that neckline depth and sleeve and shirt lengths end where you want the garment to finish. If a landmark is difficult to locate, ask a tailor or helper to check it before entering a guess. Accurate measurements support a good fit. The maker should review the measurements and design before fabric is cut.
